Amitabh Bacchan is a man who needs no introduction in India or even abroad; he is at the age of sixty plus is an Indian film actor and a greater icon of bollywood. This man seems to hold in him a charisma that remains unrivalled and is also commonly known by his nick names like Big B, Muno Bhai,Amit Jee and an Angree Young Man etc. He is An entrepreneur, politician, game show host, a singer, voiceover artist and an actor. He is a demi-god and a multitude of awards and recognition gravitates to him endlessly, the roles he played are immortalized and idolized, year after year after year.
Amitabh ‘s Real Name:
Bachchan ‘s real name is “Amitabh Harivansh Srivastav” he was initially named by his father as Inquilab, because he was inspired from the phrase Inquilab Zindabad, during the Indian independence struggle but it was re-christened “Amitabh” which means, the light that would never go off. Amitabh’s last name,”Bachchan”which has now, became the surname of all members of his current family was the pen name of his father, under which his father had published his all works. Amitabh debuted in films with his last name and it is usually used for his all public purposes.
Bachchan’s Early life:
Harivansh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad Uttar Pradesh, His father was a well known Hindi poet, and he was passed away in 2003 . Bachchan’s mother, Teji Bachchan was a Sikh from Karachi (now in Pakistan). Amitabh is the elder of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s two-son and his brother name was Ajitabh. His mother had a keen interest in the theatre and she had also got an offered a role in a film, but she preferred her domestic duties. She had an influence in Amitabh’s choice of career up to some extent because she always insisted that he should take the centre stage. Bachchan’s mother was passed on December 21, 2007.
Bachchan ‘s Education:
Bachchan has a double M.A.|Master of Arts degree. He attended Allahabad’s Jnana Prabodhini and Boys’ High School (BHS), followed by Nainital’s Sherwood College, where he majored in the art stream. He later went on to study at Kirori Mal College, where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree.
Amitabh’s PERSONAL life:
He married actress Jaya Bhaduri on June 3, 1973. They have two children, Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. His son, Abhishek is considered a talented actor and he is married with a superstasr actress Aishwarya Rai.
Bachchan first gained popularity in bollywood filim industry in the early 1970s and since then he became one of the most prominent figures in the history of Indian cinema.He is very talented actor and that’s why he is at the height of his popularity still today despite of his lost youth age.
He has won so many major awards in his career, including three National Film Awards and twelve Filmfare Awards. He also holds the record for most number of Best Actor nominations at the Filmfare Awards. In addition to acting, Bachchan has worked as a playback singer, film producer and television presenter, and was an elected member of the Indian Parliament from 1984 to 1987.
Bachchan suffered with a fatal intestinal injury in 1982, while he was filming a fight scene in a hindi film Coolie .After that he spent many months in recovering and resumed filming.
Amitabh’s Political Life:
His illness made him feel weak both mentally and physically and he decided to quit films and venture into politics and then he has worked as politician since 1984 to 1987.In 1992, Bachchan went into semi-retirement for five years.
Amitabh work as a Producer; 1996-1999.
Bachchan turned as a filim producer in 1996,that was a time of his temporary retirement period .He has setted up Amitabh Bachchan Corporation, Ltd. (A.B.C.L.) in 1996 that was working on the strategy to introduce products and services covering the entire section of the India’s entertainment industry.
Amitabh work as a Playback singer:
Bachchan has also worked as a play back singer in many bollywood filims and has showed his talent through the magic of his voice.He worked as play back singer in hindi movies like;Bhoothath, Cheeni Kum Sharaabi, Baabul , Baghban etc.
Amitabh & Vitiligo:
In November 2005, Amitabh Bachchan was admitted in a hosipital in order to undergo surgery for diverticulitis of the small intestine .During this period most of his projects were put on hold, including the television show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. Amitabh returned to work in March 2006. He is also suffered with vitiligo.
